This 4 day symposium will focus on the study and performance of significant solo and ensemble passages for piccolo in the symphonic literature, as well as important concerti and solo literature for the piccolo. Piano accompaniment will be provided for most of the orchestral excerpts and all the solo classes. Performers select excerpts and solos from the IPS repertoire list to play in class and receive suggestions from the artist-teachers regarding their performance. Other works may be brought in as well. Special topics which focus on issues specific to the piccolo will also be presented by the artist-teachers during the symposium. Performers are chosen by audition. Prospective performers must submit a high-quality recording (cassette, CD, or DAT) that includes excerpts from at least five orchestral works from the IPS repertoire list, as well as a complete movement of any piccolo solo from the IPS repertoire list. The recording, IPS application, and a résumé of training and experience should be sent to: IPS 2013, UNO Music Department, 6001 Dodge St., Omaha, NE 68182. Applications are processed as they are received, and performers who are accepted will be billed for the performer's fee. Early submission is advisable. The POSTMARK deadline for performer applications is 5/01/13.
